COLUMBIA, Mo. - Women's basketball coach Cindy Stein will make an appearance on espn.com for a moderated chat on Thursday at 11 a.m. CT. Coach Stein will talk about the NCAA women's hoop tournament and getting her team to the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.
In just her third season at the helm of the Tigers, Stein guided her team to a 20-9 regular season record and a No. 10 seed in the East region of the NCAA Tournament. In the first two rounds, Missouri beat Wisconsin 71-68 and upset No. 2 seed Georgia 78-65 to become just the third No. 10 seed to upset a No. 2 seed in tournament history.
Last season, the Tigers re-wrote the record books finishing the year with an 18-12 record-Mizzou's winningest season since 1992-93. The Tigers also climbed two spots up the Big 12 championship ladder to finish seventh with a 7-9 conference record despite being predicted to finish ninth by Big 12 coaches in the preseason polls during the 1999-2000 campaign. Stein came to MU from Emporia State University, where she was head coach from 1995-98. She guided the Lady Hornets to a 65-25 record and took ESU to the NCAA Division II tournament in 1997 and 1998.
Stein won't be stopping by until 11 a.m. CT Thursday but feel free to leave your questions here and we will save them for her arrival.
