COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri baseball team pounded out 13 hits on its way to 12 runs as the Tigers downed Western Illinois 12-0 Tuesday at Taylor Stadium/Simmons Field.

The Tigers, who have now won seven of their last eight games, are now 12-9-1 while Western Illinois falls to 0-15.

Missouri got two hits each from Mick Weiss, Wes Fewell and Brian Desch.

Weiss, Desch and Ryan Rallo drove in a pair of runs while Ryan Stegall, W.T. Hoover, Fewell and Desch each scored two runs.

Stegall walked and scored on a Weiss double in the third inning to give Missouri a 3-0 lead. Weiss scored on a fielder's choice while Hoover and Fewell scored later in the inning for a 6-0 lead.

Missouri added three runs in the fifth and three more in the seventh for the final margin. Rallo had a two-run single in the seventh.

Matt Hobbs picked up his fourth win of the season with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

The two teams complete the two-game series Wednesday at 4 p.m.
