Men's Golf In 13th Place at Louisiana Classics Tournament

March 12, 2001

Lafayette, La. - The University of Missouri men's golf team stands in 13th place after one round of play at the Louisiana Classics Tournament, which began play today with 18 holes at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette, La. The Tigers shot a team round of 305, which puts them 26 shots behind team leader Tennessee (1st - 279). MU is just five shots out of the top ten for the tournament, which wraps up tomorrow with 36 holes of play.

Individually, senior Tom Vogt leads MU, as he's tied for 37th place overall. Vogt shot a three-over par 75 today, but is playing unattached, which means his score didn't count toward Missouri's team total.

A trio of Tigers were just one shot back of Vogt, in a tie for 44th place. Junior Mark McBride, and freshmen Michael Radek and Brandon Knaub all shot four over par totals of 76 on the day, leaving them just five shots out of the top-10.

Sophomore Shawn Fleming is one shot back of that group, tied for 59th place with a score of 77. Junior Chris Happ rounded out the Tiger lineup with a 18-hole score of 80 to stand in a tie for 70th overall.
