First game ends in tie

Feb. 9, 2001

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The University of Missouri baseball team opened the 2001 season Friday with a game against San Jose State at Baggett Stadium. The game was called after five and one-half innings due to rain with no score.

Drew Endicott (So., Carthage) struck out five batters in six innings to lead the Tigers. MU got hits from Jayce Tingler (So., Smithville) and W.T. Hoover (Jr., Brookfield) to open the fourth but stranded both runners.

The Tigers are scheduled to play Cal Poly Saturday evening. However, weather might dictate a change in the Tigers' schedule.
