Softball Looking for Redemption in Utah

Feb. 28, 2001

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri softball team takes to the road again, this time traveling to St. George, Utah, to compete in the Red Desert Classic March 2-4.

The Tigers have been up and down this year, sporting a 5-10 record after competing in three tournaments, two of which are considered to be some of the best competition in the country. Of the Tigers' 10 losses, seven have come from opponents ranked in the USA Today/NFCA Top 25.

The competition won't ease up this weekend, either. Mizzou leads off the tournament Friday by facing Utah State, a team that beat the Tigers earlier this season. Directly following that game, Mizzou takes on the Utah Utes, a 6-6 team that is receiving votes in the Top-25 poll.

Saturday the Tigers face No. 12 Washington and Cal State-Santa Barbara. They finish off the tournament Sunday at noon against the No. 6 Stanford Cardinal.
