SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The University of Missouri tennis team continued its successful start to the 2001 season as it recorded a pair of wins Friday. The Tigers, who are 5-0 this season, defeated Texas-Pan American by a 6-0 decision and added a 5-1 win over Southwest Texas State.

Head coach Blake Starkey was pleased with his team's performance. "We have had a lot of convincing wins as we've played to our abilities," he said. "I hope our confidence will carry over for the rest of the weekend. We've worked hard and our playing well."

MU opens Big 12 Conference play Saturday by taking on Baylor. Missouri meets Texas Tech Sunday.
