Men's Golf Finishes 8th in Spring Opener

Katy, Texas - The University of Missouri men's golf team finished in 8th place at the Rice Invitational, which wrapped up today at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Course in Katy, Texas. The Tigers shot a team round of 309 today, after opening yesterday with rounds of 297 and 299. Their 905 team total left them 44 shots behind champion Kansas. The tournament is the first of the spring season for Tim Robyn's squad.

Junior Mark McBride leads the way individually for Missouri, as he tied for 23rd place overall with a three round score of 224. He shot a six-over par 78 today, after opening with rounds of 71 and 75 yesterday.

Freshman Brandon Knaub tied for 29th place with a three-round total of 227. He shot a five-over 77 today to go with earlier scores of 76 and 74. Junior Chris Happ was next up for MU, with a 36th-place finish at 229 for three rounds (75-80-74).

Rounding out the Tiger lineup were freshman Michael Radek (T-44th - 75-76-80=231), junior Neal Stafford (54th - 83-74-82=239) and freshman Ben Douglas (55th - 78-79-83=240).
