Men's Golf Opens Spring Season at Rice Invitational

Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri men's golf team is in 7th place through the first two rounds of play at the Rice Invitational, held at Meadowbrook Farms Golf Course in Katy, Texas. The Tigers shot team rounds of 297 and 299 for a 596 total, which is 25 strokes off leader Kansas, but just six shots behind fifth-place Lamar. The tournament is the first of the spring season for Tim Robyn's squad.

Junior Mark McBride leads the way individually for Missouri, as he stands tied for 12th place overall with a two round score of 145. He opened the spring season with a one-under par 71 in the morning, and followed with a three-over 75 in the afternoon.

Freshman Brandon Knaub shot rounds of 76 and 74 for a two-round 150 total which puts him in a tie for 26th place heading into tomorrow's final round of play. Fellow freshman Michael Radek is one shot back in a tie for 29th place with rounds of 75 and 76.

Rounding out the Tiger contingent are Chris Happ (45th - 75-80=155), Neal Stafford (T-48th - 83-74=157) and Ben Douglas (T-48th - 78-79=157).
