COLUMBIA, Mo. - The University of Missouri women's track team received eight votes in the 2001 preseason Trackwire National Poll announced Wednesday. The Tigers are in a six-way tie for 24th place with Auburn, Florida, Southern Methodist, Duke and fellow Big 12 Conference member Iowa State.

The Tiger women, led by the senior trio of Ashley Wysong, Sunny Gilbert and Michelle Moran, finished 38th at the 2000 national championships. Individually, Wysong finished third in the 800-meter run to earn her fourth All-American honor. Gilbert and Moran also received All-American accolades with top-seven finishes at the NCAA Championships.

Missouri opens the 2001 campaign hosting the Tiger Invitational Jan. 12.
