Josh Kroenke to Take Medical Redshirt

Dec. 5, 2000

Columbia, Mo. - University of Missouri men's basketball sophomore guard Josh Kroenke will not play the remainder of the 2000-01 season, and will seek a medical redshirt due to lingering effects of a concussion suffered in pre-season practice. The injury has limited him to just 12 minutes of action this year in one game.

Kroenke suffered the original injury early in the pre-season, and missed close to four weeks of practice. The Columbia, Mo. native has suffered from headaches, dizziness and nausea since the initial episode. After playing in MU's season opener, the reoccurrence of the injury has restricted Kroenke from competition.

"This is a difficult situation for Josh, but after consulting with our medical staff, we all feel this is in his best interests," said MU Head Coach Quin Snyder. "It can be frustrating, due to the serious nature of such an injury. It is his and our desire to turn this into a positive, and concentrate on getting completely healthy for next season," he said.
