Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri Department of Intercollegiate Athletics invites Tiger fans to a tour of the new press box/private suite facility adorning Memorial Stadium. The $13.1 million facility opened this past weekend as Missouri defeated Western Illinois in football, by a score of 50-20.
The tour is set for Saturday, Sept. 9, just before Mizzou plays at Clemson (2:30 p.m. on ABC). Tours will begin at 10:00 a.m., and will end at Noon. Those taking part can park on the West side of the stadium, and enter the press box lobby area for the tour.
"This is a chance for our fans who haven't been able to experience our facility yet to come out and see what all the talk is about," said Eric Morrison, MU's director of suite operations. "We had such an outstanding response from our first tour in August, that we wanted to give others the same opportunity," he said. Missouri had an open house on Aug. 19th, and showed an estimated 3,000 people through the press box on that day.
The new facility encompasses six levels, and stands 110 feet high and 321 feet wide. It includes 418 Tiger Lounge seats, as well as 35 private suites, all of which have sold out. The working press capacity was nearly doubled from the old press box, going from 75 to 147 working press seats.
