The Missouri softball team extended their losing streak to seven games with a 9-1, five-inning loss to the Texas Tech Red Raiders today in Lubbock.
Texas Tech score nine runs off 11 hits and four Missouri errors. They scored two runs in each the first, second and fourth innings and three runs in the fifth inning to end the game early by the eight-run rule.
Missouri scored their run in the top of the fifth. Linda Swarts started off the inning with a single to left field. Erin Erickson followed with a walk. Both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. Dara Throneburg walked to load the bases. Then Mary McGrane drove a single to center field to score Swarts. The next two Missouri batters got out to end the inning.
Amanda Renfro picked up the win for Texas Tech. All three Missouri pitchers made an appearance, but the loss went to the starter, Ingrid Werner.
The two teams will see action against each other again tomorrow at 1 p.m. in Lubbock.
