One hit can make all the difference in the world - especially when that one hit is a three run homer. That's all it took for the Texas A&M Aggies (24-14, 4-4) to defeat the Tigers (29-20, 5-8) 4-1 and extend Missouri's losing streak to four games, their longest of the season.
All the runs were scored in the fourth inning. In the top of the fourth, Erin Erickson scored from second on a Christy Skouby RBI single.
In the bottom of the fourth, Crystal Martin scored to tie the game at 1-1. Then Kelly Ferguson stepped up to the plate with two runners on base and drove a shot just over the left field fence, giving the Aggies the 4-1 advantage.
That was where the game stayed. Kara Weikel got the win for the Aggies. Stephanie Falk was credited with the loss for MU. Ingrid Werner came in the game after one batter in the fifth to relieve Falk.
The two teams will face off again tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Aggie Softball Field. Fans can see live updates of the game on www.sports.tamu.edu/live/softball.
