Feb. 29, 2000

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri women's basketball team had six players named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team on Tuesday afternoon. No school landed more players on that list than Missouri. Oklahoma was next in line with five players.

Named to the first team were seniors JULIE HELM, AMY MONSEES, and EKPE AKPAFFIONG. Monsees and Akpaffiong were two of three seniors to be named to the Academic All-Big 12 Team for the fourth time. JENNIFER CROW of Oklahoma State is the other four-time member. Helm, who made the team for the third time, was one of two players in the league to earn a 4.0 GPA last semester.

Joining Missouri's three seniors on the first team are sophomores NATALIE BRIGHT and ALI JOHNSTON. Both were first team selections last season.

Earning second team recognition was junior TRACY FRANKLIN. It is Franklin's first time earning Academic All-Big 12 status.
