Logan Dale Is Big 12 Pitcher of the Week

Feb. 21, 2000

DALLAS-Oklahoma State OF-DH Roy York of Stroud, Okla., and Missouri junior pitcher Logan Dale of Kansas City, Mo., have been named as the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Baseball Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, by a select panel of media covering Big 12 baseball for games played Feb. 14-20.

York led the Cowboys to a 3-0 week with several clutch hits. His three-run homer in the first inning led OSU to a 15-4 win over Kansas State in the San Diego Baseball Showcase, and he also cracked a base-clearing, three-run double to break a 2-2 tie and lead the Cowboys to a 7-3 win over their Big Ten opponent.

He also batted .583 (7-for-12), drove in nine runs for the three contests, had a pair of doubles, homered, and posted a 1.000 slugging percentage for Oklahoma State.

Dale enjoyed a masterful, two-hit win over host Northwestern State (a recent winner over Nebraska and Rice) as the Tigers edged the Demons 2-1 in the Ken Moran Trucking Demon Baseball Classic at Natchitoches, La. He struck out seven NSU hitters in eight innings, walked four and surrendered one unearned run in the process. Dale also snuffed two possible rallies in the first inning with the bases loaded and in the sixth inning when the Demons had a man on third with no one out before he retired the next three hitters.

Landon Brandes gave Mizzou its first lead with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to help Dale post the victory with relief help (a save) from SS-P Ryan Stegall.
