COLUMBIA, Miss - Missouri (5-7, 0-2) dominated their match with arch rival Kansas (10-3, 1-1) , but could not pull out the victory. The Tigers fell in five games (15-2, 11-15, 15-7, 8-15, 12-15).
It was clear that Missouri had a handle on games one and three. In the first game, the Tigers out-hit the Jayhwks .500 to .000. Unfortunately, Missouri came out in the second game a completely different team. By the end of the match, one would have looked at the statistics and thought the Tigers had won. Missouri had attacked the ball 199 times, a season high. They also finished with 12 team blocks.
Freshman Christi Myers played through her injury and led the Tigers with a .513 clip (22 kills, a new career high). In the first game alone, she hit .714. Junior Annette Luyten also made significant contributions with her 14 kills, 18 digs and six block assists.
The Tigers are at home this Wednesday with a match against the Oklahoma Sooners at the Hearnes Center.
