COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Tiger Invitational kicked off Friday with the Tigers defeating the New Mexico State Roadrunners 3-1 (15-8, 15-9, 8-15, 15-8). Missouri led New Mexico State in nearly every category and were able to capitalize off the Roadrunners' mistakes. Although the number is not exactly high, the Tigers hit a .161 percentage to NMSU's .084. Missouri also handled the ball well defensively, recording 72 digs to the Roadrunners' 52.
Missouri dominated the first two games, hitting .280 percent to the Roadrunners .102 average. Despite the loss in the third game, the Tigers attacked the ball hard, but had 17 hitting errors. They came back, however, in the final game and hit .208 to New Mexico State's .079.
Freshman Christi Myers continued her hot streak, hitting a .323 clip through all four games. She has hit at .300 or above in three of the Tigers first five matches.
Missouri (3-2, 0-0) will face off Saturday at 12:00 p.m. against East Carolina. The Panthers fell to Southeast Missouri State in Game 1 of the Tiger Invitational, 3-0.
