The Missouri Tigers (7-1) handed the Saint Louis University Billikens (5-1) their first loss of the season in a 78-65 decision. St. Louis, who was receiving votes in the AP Poll, never took the lead in the game and were down by as many as 14 points in the second half.
Junior college transfer Amanda Lassiter led all scorers with a career-high 20 points. She also netted 11 rebounds, six assists and five blocked shots. Her double-double was a career first. Senior Amy Monsees contributed a double-double of her own with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Also scoring in double figures was senior Julie Helm (16 points) and JUCO transfer Marlena Williams (14 points). Helm's points were enough to push her past Nancy Rutter into fourth place on MU's all-time scoring list. She now has 1,648 career points.
As a team, Missouri shot 41 percent for the game, compared to SLU's 31 percent. Both teams were about equal from the charity stripe, however, posting percentages of 78 and 72, respectively. Missouri also shot 50 percent as a team from beyond the arc.
The Tigers have no games this week due to finals, but will travel to Eastern Illinois for a game Dec. 18.
