"I am so proud and impressed with our team, " Missouri Head Coach Bryan Blitz said afterward. "They showed that they are a legitimate team with a great effort. And after Friday's loss to Texas Tech, this team showed tremendous maturity and strength to get this win on the road against a very good Baylor team."

The Tigers talented tandem up front did the Bears in. Forward Nikki Thole, the Big 12 's leading scorer entering weekend competition, continued to burn the nets scoring two goals in the MU win. The junior now has 13 scores on the season to go with five assists.

Erin Grimsley, a senior forward, netted the other goal for Missouri her nineth of the year and second of the weekend. Amy Timmermann posted two assists, one on Grimsley's goal and another on Thole's first goal. Tamisha Ellis assisted on Thole's second goal and Heather Buchheit added an assist on Thole's first score. For the freshman Ellis, it was her first assist as a Tiger.

All of the scoring was done in the first half in game that featured two fistfights, two red cards--to Missouri Head Coach Bryan Blitz and Baylor's Jennifer Eden--and five yellow cards.

The Tigers dug a hole for the Bears early when Buchheit shot a pass to Timmermann, who placed a nifty pass to Thole 15 yards out. Thole delivered Missouri's first goal at 3:20, her 12th of the season.

Baylor, ranked No. 14 by the NSCAA coming into the match, tied it up when Julie Goin got a shot past Adamec with assists from Courtney Saunders and Nikki Hale. At 22:25 the score was tied at one.

Missouri responded with the go-ahead score at 30:38 when Timmermann notched her second assist, this time on a pass to Grimsley. The Lenexa, Kansas native took the ball at the top of the box and launched a shot into the goal to give MU the 2-1 advantage.

Just under seven minutes later, Thole struck again, scoring her 13th goal of the season on a pass from freshman defender Tamisha Ellis at 37:26. The Missouri defense shutout the Bears in the second half securing the Tiger victory, its first regular season win over Baylor.
