The Memphis/Varsity Pro Shop Tennis Invitational was a big success for the Missouri Tigers. Six singles and two doubles finished third place or higher in the weekend tournament hosted by the University of Memphis. Junior Andrea Friedman found the most success at the tournament, winning both her singles and her doubles flights. She defeated Diana Stojcevski from Southwest Missouri State in the championship round of Flight #7. She then went on to partner up with Arizona State's Megan McCoy. Together they took the Flight #4 Doubles Championship from Memphis' Kate Borthwick and Laura Hughes.
There were 12 teams competing in the invitational. Along with Missouri, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas State, Austin Peay, Memphis, Murray State, Northwest Louisiana, St. Louis University, Stephen F. Austin, Southwest Missouri State, Tennessee-Martin, Tennessee Tech also made the trip to Memphis.
Missouri now waits word from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association as to who will attend the Rolex Invitational, Nov. 5-8, in Provo, Utah.
