Columbia, Mo. - The University of Missouri has granted Nyah Jones a release from his men's basketball scholarship agreement, as announced today by Director of Athletics Michael Alden.
Jones, a 6-foot-11 center from Meridian (Miss.) Community College, had signed with Missouri in the fall of 1998, but requested the release this spring to pursue other options. By granting him the release, MU allows Jones the opportunity to attend the school of his choice, without any repercussions or loss of eligibility.
"We feel this is a mutually beneficial situation - something that is the best for both Nyah and Missouri basketball," said Head Coach Quin Snyder. "The important thing is for Nyah to find a school that is the right fit for him. We wish him the very best."
Jones' departure leaves Missouri with four scholarships available for the 2000-2001 recruiting period.
