February 10, 1999

COLUMBIA, Mo.- The Missouri Tigers out-rebounded the Colorado Buffaloes 56-39 on Tuesday night, but the Tigers shot just 34 percent from the floor and fell 74-62 at the Coors Event Center in Boulder, Colo. Senior Kesha Bonds scored 11 points and pulled down a season-high 22 rebounds in the losing effort.

Colorado built up as much as an eight point lead in the first half, but the Tigers kept the game close. Amy Monsees (17 points, 9 rebounds) took a feed from Natalie Bright and scored to cut Colorado's lead to 25-23. With the Tigers trailing 27-25, with 36 seconds left in the half, the Buffaloes Jenny Roulier connected on a runner to build the Buffs lead back to four points. Following a Missouri 20 second timeout, the Tigers turned the ball over. Colorado played for the last shot and freshman center Britt Hartshorn (17 points, 10 rebounds) rebounded her own miss and put it back in at the horn to give Colorado a 31-25 lead at halftime.

The second half belonged to the Colorado bench. Sophomore forward Nikki Swagger scored all seven of her points in the first 4 minutes, 45 seconds of the second half to help build Colorado's lead to 10 points at 40-30. The closest Missouri would get from that point was seven points. Bonds netted a short jumper on a pass from Ali Johnston to cut CU's lead to 44-37 with 12:12 to go.

Then the roof caved in on the Tigers. The Buffs Shelley Garcia drained a three-pointer at the 11:17 mark to give Colorado an 11 point lead. Hartshorn then got free inside and scored while being fouled by Julie Helm and converted the three-point play.

Colorado's bench accounted for 30 of their 74 points. Missouri hit on just 25-of-73 shots despite collecting 24 offensive rebounds.
