The Missouri Tigers took No. 3 Nebraska to five games tonight, becoming the first team to take the Huskers to five this season. The Tigers broke a 90 game losing streak against the Huskers by winning the first game 16-14.
The Cornhuskers served up 12 service aces in games four and five to win the match 3-2. The Cornhuskers outblocked the Tigers 18-2 to secure the victory.
Missouri outside hitter Jodi Maune led the Tigers, banging out 15 kills. Nebraska sophomore Nancy Meenderring knocked down a career-high 26 kills.
The Tigers came back from a 12-4 deficit in the third game to win it 13-15.
"It was neat to be the only team to take Nebraska to five games," said head coach Disa Johnson. "There were so many positives from this match, even though we lost. The team was able to see that any team can be beaten on any given night."
Missouri falls to 11-13 overall and 2-9 in the Big 12 Conference.
