The Tigers split matches this weekend against No. 25 Texas Tech and Baylor. MU fell to the Red Raiders 3-1 on Friday and then turned the tables on Baylor Saturday to win 3-1.
Missouri dropped the first game to the Texas Tech 15-7 but fought back to win the second game 15-6. The third game became a battle with the Red Raiders coming out on top 17-15. Tech took the fourth game 15-9 as the Tigers upset hopes were dashed.
Sophomore setter Heather Gerber dished out a career-high 70 assists for the Tigers, but it was not enough. Senior Renee Rosinski banged out a season-high 21 kills to lead the Tigers. Four other Tigers registered double-digit kills.
On Saturday against Baylor, the Tigers came out sluggish, losing the first game 15-8. The Tigers took command of the second game and the match, winning 15-9, 15-11, 15-0. Senior Jodi Maune led the Tiger attack with 16 kills, hitting at a .467 clip. The Tigers outblocked the Bears 8-4. Sophomore Annette Luyten led the blocking attack with 1 solo and 4 assists.
The Tigers overall record improved to 9-7 and 1-3 in the Big 12 Conference. Missouri will take on Iowa State on Wednesday night in Ames.
