January 6, 1999

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - Albert White scored 21 points and added 11 rebounds, and the Tigers withstood a late Kansas State rally, to beat the Wildcats, 78-73 in Manhattan.

White hit on 8-of-9 field goals in the second half, scoring 17 of his points after intermission. John Woods scored all 11 of his points in the second half, as the Tigers quickly extended a 31-26 halftime lead to a 47-32 MU advantage with 15:20 remaining.

The Tiger lead grew to as much as 16 points, before Kansas State clawed back into the game late. But Missouri hit 6-of-8 free throws in the games final two minutes to hold on for the win, which was MUs first road win in the Big XII Conference.

Jeff Hafer hit 3-of-4 foul shots in the waning moments, and Johnnie Parker hit two key free throws with 17 seconds left to help seal the win.

Freshman Keyon Dooling sparked the Tigers, as he came off the bench to score a career-high 16 points -- including MUs first six of the game.

The win moved MU to 2-0 in conference play for the first time since 1996.
