The Tiger volleyball team fought hard, but fell to Big 12 opponent Kansas State 1-3 (15-10, 12-15, 13-15, 8-15). The Tigers now fall to 3-13 in Big 12 play and 11-16 overall.
Seniors Jodi Maune and Chandra Hopkins led the Tigers with 15 kills a piece. Freshman Naaron Branson seemed to get back on track adding 11 kills, ending a drought that had lasted several games. Freshman Krista Johnson and senior Renee Rosinski each served up three aces. Johnson also had five block assits and one solo block.
Only five players made all the kills for the Wildcats. Dawn Cady and Val Wieck led with 20 kills a piece, with Wieck hitting a .459 clip. Wieck also added nine blocks (8 assited, 1 solo) for the Wildcats.
The Tigers will face conference rival Kansas Jayhawks in Columbia Friday afternoon at 4:00. They will play again Saturday at Hearnes Center against Oklahoma at 7:30 p.m.
