Tiger Take Second in Wildcat Classic

The Missouri Tigers finished the week with a 4-1 record, improving to 8-4 on the season. The Tigers defeated Southwest Missouri State 3-0 on Tuesday night. Sophomore middle blocker Annette Luyten led the Tigers with 13 kills, hitting at a .478 clip.

At the Wildcat Classic, Missouri won their first match against Lehigh easily 15-1, 15-2, 15-10. Seniors Renee Rosinski and Chandra Hopkins led the Tiger's offensive attack with nine kills each. In the second match of the day, the Tigers came back to defeat Towson after losing the first game 11-15, winning the next three 15-5, 16-14, 15-3. Middle blocker Annette Luyten led the Tigers with a career-high 19 kills. The second day of play saw the Tigers defeat Ole Miss 3-1 (12-15, 15-13, 15-8, 15-6). Freshman Naaron Branson led the Tiger attack with a career-high 14 kills. Missouri fell to host Northwestern in the final match of the evening, earning runner-up honors. Northwestern defeated the Tigers 16-14, 15-3, 15-8 to take the Wildcat Classic title. Senior outside hitter Jodi Maune led the Tigers with 11 kills.

Missouri's Annette Luyten and Naaron Branson earned all-tournament honors.
