Ames, Iowa - At the Cyclone Last Chance event, MU's men's 4x400m relay team of Chad Shade, Kristian Fagerland, Derrick Peterson, and Thomas Woods provisionally qualified for next weekend's NCAA Indoor Track Championships by posting a 3:09.53 time, nearly a second below the qualifying mark of 3:10.40. Missouri's athletes have now provisionally qualified in six different events over the indoor season and will hope to be competing in all the events at the national meet.
Sophomore Ashley Wysong turned in her second provisional time of the season in the women's 800m. Wysong ran a 2:07.33, more than a second less than her previous season best of 2:08.76, also a provisional time.
Several other Tigers competed and came very close to reaching their event's magical numbers, but in the end only Wysong and the relay squad were able to qualify. Strong performances were given by Heather White, 55-11 1/4 (weight throw), Sunny Gilbert, 2:09.59 (women's 800m), Adam Ford 6-7 (men's high jump), Carlos Posey, 6.72 (60m dash), Thomas Woods, 21.90 (200m dash), Chad Shade, 47.55 (400m dash), Derrick Peterson, 1:48.50 (800m), and Ryan Pirtle, 4:05.82 (mile run).
