Columbia, Mo. - #4 Iowa State was too much for the Missouri Tiger wrestling team Sunday as they defeated the Tigers 32-9 in the Hearnes Fieldhouse. The loss dropped MU to 3-6 on the year, while the Cyclones are now 17-5-1 in dual matches.
After trading forfeits with Iowa State in the first two matches, MU wrestled tough throughout the match but could only earn one more win. The win came courtesy of MUs hottest wrestler of late in an upset of his conference opponent.
MU's Jeff Urban (149), ranked #19 by Intermat Magazine, was a winner for the eighth consecutive time in dual action. The junior defeated the Cyclones Cole Sanderson who was ranked #6 in the nation, 6-5.
The Tigers next wrestle Friday, February 12 at Norman, Oklahoma when they take on #5 Oklahoma. Then its on to Stillwater for a match with #1 Oklahoma State on Sunday, February 13. Missouri finishes their home schedule Wednesday, February 17 versus Nebraska at 7 pm in the Hearnes Fieldhouse.
