Columbia, Mo. - 39 Missouri Tiger athletes are among those chosen for the 1999 Men's and Women's Track and Field Academic All-Big 12 Teams. The 39 Missouri choices tied the school with the Unviersity of Nebraska for most honoress from one institution.

Of the Tigers selected, 21 were chosen for the Academic All-Big 12 women's first team, second in the Big 12 to Nebraska. Athletes reach first team status by earning a grade poit average of 3.2 or better over the previous semester. Eight Missouri men also earned first team status with a 3.2 or better. Rounding out the MU student-athletes honored were ten Tigers who were named to the honorable mention list with a 3.0 or better grade points average.

The Missouri Track & Field team is no starnger to academic success. A unprecedented 12 consecutive Missouri Track and Field teams have earned Academic All-America team honors from the United States Track & Field Coaches Association.
