| Dr. McElroy began working with the Tigers as an orthopedic consultant to team physician Dr. James Baker starting in 1951, then succeeded him in 1977. In 1991 he took on the title of emeritus team physician. He was a charter member of the Missouri Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Fame, received the NATA Presidents Challenge Award in 1993, and was doctor-of-the-year as selected by the Boone County Medical Society in 1989. He was inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame in 1984, and Mizzous state-of-the-art athletic training center is named the Dr. Glenn L. McElroy Sports Medicine Center in his honor. |
