Sowers comes to Mizzou with SEC experience following a three-year stint in the Athletic Marketing department at Ole Miss, where he also served as an Adjunct professor for the school of Integrated Marketing and Communications.
He began his career in athletics as a marketing intern in 2005 with his alma mater, Western Illinois, where he was a student-athlete on the football team. He moved on to Harvard as a Marketing Assistant before working two years at Towson University.
In 2010, Sowers moved to Carbondale, Ill., to be the Coordinator of Group Sales and Special Events at Southern Illinois University. He was promoted a year later to Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing for the Salukis.
An avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan, Sowers is married to Jessica, a 2006 Mizzou alumna. They have a son, Ward, and a daughter, Claire.
