Abdelhakim "Hakim" Abouzouhir joined the University of Missouri track and field and cross country program in September 2025 as Director of Operations and Assistant Coach.
In his role with the Tigers, Abouzouhir supports the day-to-day operations of the program, including team travel, competition logistics, equipment coordination and student-athlete support. He works closely with the coaching staff and athletics administration to help organize the details that allow the program to operate efficiently throughout the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.
Before arriving at Missouri, Abouzouhir served as Director of Operations and Recruiting Consultant with Track House USA. In just one year with the organization, he helped numerous international student-athletes make their way into U.S. collegiate programs, with 10 of those athletes going on to earn NCAA All-America honors. He worked closely with athletes, families and college coaches throughout the recruiting process, helping student-athletes navigate scholarship opportunities, university placement and the transition into the U.S. collegiate athletics system.
Alongside his recruiting work, Abouzouhir helped lead operations for My Holidays in Morocco, where he coordinated transportation, hotels, group schedules and on-the-ground travel logistics. Managing detailed travel programs and group movements strengthened the operational experience he later brought into collegiate athletics and his current role at Missouri.
As a student-athlete, Abouzouhir competed for Eastern Kentucky University from 2022–24 and established himself among the program's top distance runners. He earned NCAA First Team All-America honors in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in consecutive seasons in 2023 and 2024 and qualified for NCAA championship competition in both track and field and cross country.
During his collegiate career, Abouzouhir earned multiple All-Conference and All-Region honors while competing in events ranging from the mile to the 10,000 meters. He earned conference medals in the mile, 5,000 meters and 3,000-meter steeplechase and set an ASUN Conference record in the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays.
Internationally, Abouzouhir represented Morocco at the 2022 FISU World University Cross Country Championships. He finished sixth individually and helped Morocco capture the team title.
Abouzouhir's path in sport began professionally in Morocco. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech in 2019 before completing professional training in physical education and earning a Physical Education Teaching Diploma in 2021. From September 2021 through August 2022, he worked as a physical education teacher in the public education system in the Marrakech region, teaching high school physical education and supporting student-athletes participating in school cross country and soccer competitions.
His background combines experience as an international athlete, NCAA All-American, physical education teacher, international recruiter and athletics operations professional. That combination has given him experience across multiple sides of sport, from athlete development and recruiting to travel, competition and the daily operational demands of an NCAA Division I program.
