Hailing from Kansas City, Missouri, Carson Gates began his career at Missouri in 2022 as the Volunteer Assistant Coach and returned for the 2023 season as an Assistant Coach for the program. He specializes in coordinating practice plans, reviewing film and player development.
Gates was a four-year starter at his alma mater Michigan State University from 2018-22, earning the MSU Athletics Presidents Award for his accomplishments in his final year of play. He secured four Academic All-Big Ten awards and three Big Ten Distinguished Scholar nominations during his time at MSU.
A four-star recruit out of Staley High School in Kansas City before attending MSU, Gates was a three-time All-State, All-Conference and All-District selection from the 2016-2018 seasons. During his four-year career at Staley, Gates was a three-time finalist in the Missouri state competition.
Gates graduated from Michigan State in 2022 with a degree in physiology and is currently pursuing medical school while coaching.
