"Tim is a solid 197 pound competitor," Missouri Head Coach Brian Smith said. "Over the summer he took classes and trained with our strength staff in order to prepare for the upcoming season."
High School: Waltenberger competed for the Windsor wrestling team and finished second at the Missouri State Championships his junior (2007-08) and senior (2008-09) seasons. Coached by Kevin Stoffey, the Owls wrestling squad finished ninth at the state tournament. Waltenberger recorded a career-high 46 wins his junior season and managed 44 victories as a senior. A four-sport athlete, Waltenberger earned four letters in wrestling, three in football, two in track and two in baseball. For his work on the gridiron, Waltenberger was recognized as a third-team all-state tight end.
Personal: Born in St. Louis, Mo., on Jan. 9, 1991, Tim Waltenberger is the son of Dean and Pam Waltenberger and brother to Jason (26), Ross (21) and Allison (16). Waltenberger is majoring in education and plans to teach and coach after graduation.
