Phyllip DeLoach Season 2016-17

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2017-18)

• Produced a record of 7-5 in sophomore campaign, wrestling in three open tournaments at 149 and 157 pounds.
• Went 2-1 at the Roger Denker Open (Jan. 21) at 157 pounds, recording an 18-3 technical fall over Central Missouri’s Dakota Huss in the opening round.
• Went 4-2 at the Lindenwood Open at 149 pounds, including a 13-7 win over Wisconsin’s Tyler Shilson.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2016-17)

• In first season as an attached wrestler, posted a record of 18-10 with two technical falls and two major decisions.
• Went 2-2 at the Edinboro Open (Feb. 4), recording wins over Austin Weigel (Buffalo), by major decision, 12-3, and Eric Fasnacht (Buffalo), 7-5.
• Placed third at 165 pounds at the Roger Denker Open (Jan. 22), posting a record of 5-1 in the tournament, including two wins by technical fall.
• Recorded his first dual victory against Buffalo (Jan. 12), defeating Alex Smythe, 7-4.
• Made his dual debut against Oklahoma (Jan. 8), falling 7-4 to Yosane Mejias.
• Placed fifth at 157 pounds at the Joe Parisi Open (Nov. 19), winning three of five matches.
• Went 4-0 and placed first at the Maryville Brand Kaufman Open (Nov. 12), winning his first round bout by major decision and the next three by decision.

FRESHMAN (2015-16)

• Went 13-7 as an unattached wrestler at 157 pounds, reaching the podium in three open tournaments.
• Finished second at the Missouri Valley College Open (Feb. 7).
• Took second at the Maryville Kaufman Brand Open in the Amateur division (Nov. 14).
• Took fifth at the UCM Open (Nov. 7), earning his first collegiate win over Shea Spradley (Lindenwood) via technical fall, 20-2.

HIGH SCHOOL

• Twin, Nicholas, joins him at Mizzou
• Went 155-29 in his high school career
• Finished fourth in the 2015 Illinois Class 3A tournament at 145 pounds
• Clinched three straight Illinois 3A regional titles 
• Secured a seventh-place finish at the 2013 USAW Cadet Fresstyle Nationals
