REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2014-15)

? In breakout campaign, compiled a 38-4 overall record, including a 20-1 dual record (6-1 MAC competitions).
? His 38 victories marked a new career high, upping his previous season best by nine wins (29 a season ago).
? Started in 21 duals, compared to just 10 matches a season before.
? In his 20 dual wins, racked up 73 points for the Tigers in his victories.
? 19 of his season dual starts came at 141 pounds, while two came at 149 pound weight class.
? Began the 2014-15 season with a 21 match winning streak. After suffering his first loss, finished the year on a 17-3 run en route to All-American status.
? Earned first career All-American honors (7th place) after going 5-2 at 2015 NCAA Championships.

? Competed in five tournaments as an attached wrestler and held a starting spot on the lineup at 141 pounds, helping him make his way to his first NCAA Championship.
? Opened the season with an eighth-place finish at the Warren Williams/Daktronics Open.
? Placed second at both the UCM and UNI Opens, picking up seven wins between the two tournaments.
? Won all five matches at the Joe Parisi for his first tournament title in collegiate competition. Defeated Anthony Collica (Okla. State) in the finals with a pin at 6:47.
? First collegiate dual start was against Noah Forrider of Ohio. Mayes won by major decision, 12-3.
? His first win over a ranked opponent came by way of a 6-4 decision over No. 15 Nick Lester in the dual against Oklahoma.
? Represented Missouri at the 2014 MAC Championships, where he defeated Tyler Small (Kent St.) and Nick Flannery (Buffalo) for a fourth-place finish and an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA National Championships.
? Went 2-2 in his matches at Nationals.

? Redshirted during his first season with the Tigers.
? Competed in three tournaments at 149 pounds.
? Took second place at the UCM Open, picking up his first collegiate win against Devin Patterson (McKendree), 9-6.

? Earned another second-place finish at the Kaufman-Brand Open, picking up two decision wins, a 17-6 major decision, and a pin at 2:29.
