2013-2014: In his redshirt year with the Tigers, Boone posted a 10-8 record after competing in four open tournaments at 174 pounds. Of the four tournaments, Boone placed in the top six twice, including taking sixth at the UCM Open after winning three of his six matches. The following week after losing his first match at the Joe Parisi Open, Boone came back and won all six of his remaining bouts to take third place overall.
High School: Boone, a 174-pounder from Cabell Midland, comes to the Tigers as one of the top recruits from West Virginia. After a couple of fifth-place medals as a freshman and sophomore, Boone's highest finish in state was a runner-up finish in 2011 at 160 pounds. Despite being the No. 1 grappler at 170 pounds in West Virginia, Boone finished fifth at state in his senior season, a year that was limited due to a knee injury he suffered in the 2012 Class AAA football state title. Boone played linebacker for the Knights. He was an eight-time letter-winner at Cabell Midland, receiving four in both wrestling and football.
