2013-14: Rice went 13-10 in his sophomore season with the Tigers, including a fifth place finish at the Kaufman-Brand Open. His fifth place finish came after only two losses on the day, both against Missouri wrestlers (Blake Pepper and Trevor Weist in overtime). Rice picked up two pins on the year, both occurring under 4:00 of competition. Two more wins came by major decision, including a 10-2 win against North Dakota State's Nathaniel Rykerd and a 17-4 win against Missouri's Herman Travis.
2012-13: Brandon Rice went 15-12 in a his first year as an attached wrestler for the Tigers, competing in five tournaments at the 141 pound weight class. Rice won four matches at the UCM Open highlighted by a victory via fall over Dalton Mudgett of Missouri Valley. Brandon won four matches at the Joe Parisi Open, and finished in sixth place at the Kaufman-Brand Open. Rice won three matches in his final tournament of the season, the Grand View Open, before having to forfeit his final match to fellow Tiger Blake Pepper due to injury.
2011-12: Using his redshirt, Rice won seven matches in his first season with Mizzou and scored bonus points in three of them. Wrestling at both 141 and 149 pounds, Rice won three bouts at the Kaufman-Brand Open in December, and scored another win at the Roger Denker Open in January. At the MVC Open in February, Rice won three more matches, scoring bonus point victories in each. His first two victories came by fall, including a pin in 29 seconds over Wentworth's Jacob Wright, while his last win of the year was a 16-0 technical fall against Patrick Cervantes of Missouri Valley.
High School: Rice wrestled for Washington Community High School, helping the team to back-to-back Sweet 16 appearances at state over his last two seasons. As a senior, Rice went 41-5 at 135 pounds, finishing fourth in state and fourth at nationals. He finished in seventh at nationals as a sophomore, and posted a 33-8 record on the year at 125. He was a two-time state champion in the state of Illinois for Greco, winning in 2010 and again in 2011. Also in 2011, he took fourth in Greco at the Fargo Nationals. He was a two-time Fargo All-American and was the team MVP his senior year. Along with wrestling, Rice played football and also lettered in cross country as a senior. He was a High Honor Roll member all four years of high school.
Personal: Brandon was born in Little Rock, Ark., on Oct. 20, 1992 to Tony and Amy Rice. He is the oldest of three children, as he has two younger brothers - Trevor (16) and Ashton (7). His father, Tony, attended Bradley University and is an engineer. Brandon is majoring in physical therapy and chose Mizzou over Brown University and Rider.
