University of Missouri Athletics

Dr. Sharrell Straughter began her tenure at Mizzou in the fall of 2019. Her current responsibilities include providing athletic training services for the women’s volleyball team after spending two seasons with the Tiger's football and women's tennis programs. 

Prior to her time at Mizzou, she spent the previous five years at Prairie View A&M University, working with the volleyball, men’s basketball, men's & women’s tennis, softball, and bowling teams.

Straughter graduated in 2022 with her Doctorate in Athletic Training focusing her research on sports neurology and concussions. She has a strong passion in return to academics' post-injury for student-athletes. Straughter received her bachelor's degree in athletic training from Indiana University in 2011 and her masters’ degree in exercise science from Southern Illinois University in 2013. She is a board-certified athletic trainer and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.

She is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and currently lives in Columbia.
