Joe Collins

Joe Collins brings a wealth of experience in strength and conditioning to the University of Missouri. He joined the Missouri Athletic Performance staff as Assistant Director for Olympic Sports in October of 2017. He works directly with Baseball, Swimming and Track & Field. Collins’ experience spans not only intercollegiate athletics but also both professional baseball and working with athletes outside a team organization.

He joins the Missouri staff after working the past two years as Assistant Director of Sports Performance at the University of Memphis. At Memphis Collins designed and implemented strength and conditioning programs for Baseball, Volleyball and Track. Prior to working at Memphis Collins was the Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of North Florida (2004-10) and Texas-Pan American (2010-12).

Collins worked in professional baseball in both the Milwaukee Brewers (2000-01) and Kansas City Royals (2001-03) organizations. Collins was the head strength and conditioning coach for Olympic sports at the University of Pittsburgh from 1998 to 2000. In addition to designing and implementing training programs for Pitt’s Olympic sport student-athletes, he also assisted with strength and conditioning for Pitt football.

A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Collins is a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, Functional Range Conditioning Certified (FRCms), Functional Range Assessment Specialist, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization Exercise certified.
