Doshia Woods

TitleAssistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator

Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator Doshia Woods joined the Tigers in 2008 and remained with the program until 2010.

In her duties, Woods served as the program’s recruiting coordinator and oversaw all aspects of the recruiting process. She also worked with the guards on skill development, assisted with scouting and the day-to-day operations of the Tiger program, and served as the staff liaison with the Mizzou media relations department.

Under her guidance, all of Missouri’s guards improved their game. Last season, RaeShara Brown became one of the conference’s best defenders, leading the Big 12 in assists with 2.6 per contest in her first season as a starter. Additionally, Woods helped Bekah Mills develop into the team’s starting point guard after returning from an injury.

Doshia is a tremendous recruiter and tireless worker. She is a workout freak but will go all out in all she does. She’s also a Janet Jackson look-alike — too bad she can’t sing!” — Coach Stein

Woods spent the previous three seasons before Mizzou as an assistant coach at Oregon State, where she worked with recruiting and the team’s guards. In her first season with the Beavers, Oregon State won 10 more games than the previous season and earned a bid to the WNIT. Woods’ work with the guards also stood out, as Mercedes Fox-Griffin recorded 180 assists in 2006-07, the second-highest single-season total in Beaver history. Fox-Griffin also ranked eighth nationally in assists per game.

Before joining Oregon State, Woods spent one season at New Mexico State, working primarily with recruiting, player development and academics. She also spent three seasons on the coaching staff at her alma mater, Western Illinois. During Woods’ tenure, the Westerwinds earned two Mid-Continent Conference (now Summit League) regular-season titles and posted a 42-18 record in her final two seasons with the program.

Woods began her college career at Barton County Community College in Kansas before transferring to Western Illinois for her junior and senior seasons. She averaged 8.8 points per game in 57 games with the Westerwinds and still holds the single-season record for 3-point field goals with 62. Woods also ranks third in career 3-point field goals with 102, despite playing only two seasons at Western Illinois. She was named to the Mid-Continent Conference second team as a senior in 2000-01.

A native of Topeka, Kansas, Woods earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in psychology from Western Illinois in 2001 and an associate degree from Barton County Community College in 1999.
