JUNIOR (2005-06): Made 30 starts while appearing in every game for the Tigers... set a school record for three-point accuracy by connecting on 46.0 percent (57-of-124) of her attempts on the year... that figure also ranked first in the Big 12 and sixth in the NCAA... she entered the rankings on Jan. 9 at 11th and took over the top spot in the Jan. 30 edition... she led the country for two weeks and appeared in the top-11 over the course of seven ranking periods... her 57 triples made rank third in MU single-season history... she made at least three 3-pointers on 10 occasions and at least one 27 times... averaged 10.0 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game from her forward position... shot 41.8 percent from the floor... ranked among the Big 12 leaders in scoring (29th), 3-point field goal pct. Has led the Big 12 in 3-point shooting nearly all season long, and led the nation from long distance for a couple of weeks in February... started every game this season until Senior Night, when she came off the bench in place of senior Cherice Mack... opened the season with her first of two double-doubles — 10 points and 12 rebounds, to go with a season-high four steals — against Clemson in the WBCA Classic... had a season-high four 3-pointers with 16 points against Northwestern... had a career-high 19 points against Murray State... two weeks later, made 7-of-8 field goals and scored 18 points against Southern Illinois... had a season-high 13 rebounds and four assists to go with 14 points against Colorado... had 18 points and had nine rebounds against Texas Tech... tied a season-high with two blocks against Oklahoma State... has scored in double figures 17 times this season.
2004-05:
Outlook: An excellent shooter, has also demonstrated athleticism and determination after her freshman season. Has excellent court sense and work ethic. Could be a key asset since she can play inside or out. Earned valuable experience among the top 48 rising seniors in the country in the summer of 2002 after she was selected to participate in the USA Basketball Youth Development Festival at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Freshman Season (2003-04): Provided valuable minutes off the bench. Played in 22 games this season, starting two. Scored a career-high 11 points, including 2-of-5 from long distance, in the opening game of the Unilever Classic against Alcorn State. Notched seven points in 11 minutes in the Tigers' win against Miami (Ohio) on Jan. 2. Scored nine points, collected five boards and established a career-high with four assists in her first career start, vs. Nebraska on Jan. 14. Followed that performance with seven points and a career-high six rebounds in a starting role at Colorado four days later. Blocked a shot, recorded an assist and grabbed two rebounds against Baylor on Feb. 11.
High School: Was named the Fort Worth Star Telegram's Player of the Year in each of her last three seasons at Trinity High School under head coach Sue Cannon. Recipient of first-team all-state honors from TABC her junior and senior years, and was tabbed an honorable mention All-American and first-team all-state by TGCA her senior season. Averaged 22.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per game en route to leading the Trojans to a 38-2 record and the regional championship game. Was named the 5A District Most Valuable Player each of her last three years — District 7 in 2001 and 2002, and District 5 in 2003. Also named to the all-region team each of her last three years. As a freshman in 2000, garnered second-team all-region honors, in addition to being named the Fort Worth Star Telegram Newcomer of the Year. An accomplished student, graduated in the top seven percent of her class. TABC academic all-state as a senior. Four-year academic all-district recipient.
Personal: Daughter of Carl and Ouida Savant. Born June 5, 1985, in Texas City, Texas. Has a twin brother, Zack, who is a sophomore at Tarrant County College. Majoring in psychology, and plans a career as a counseling psychologist.
