Tanner competed for Fatima HS under coaches Marc Bridges and Nicole Cassmeyer...As a team, they were Conference Champions (2008-12), District Champions (2008-12), and took third at the 2012 MSHSAA Championships...As an individual, Tanner was a three-time MSHSAA All-State finisher in the discus (2010-12), and also earned an All-State honor in 2012 for the shot put...He was Conference Champion and District Champion in the shot put and discus (2011-12).
