Quinn Peterson enters his second year on the MIzzou Men's Basketball staff as a graduate assistant. Peterson, an Oak Park, Ill., native, comes to Columbia with more than a decade of coaching experience under his belt.
From 2015-2019, Peterson was the head varsity coach at Walter Payton College Prep, a top-10 school nationally and the top high school academically in Illinois. He led the team to two conference championships, three IHSA Regional finals and its first Chicago Public Schools playoff win in more than 10 years.
Peterson was the director of The Brudas, Inc. from 2015-2018, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded by his high school teammate NBA player Iman Shumpert. In this role, he was responsible for the creation and management of a nationally competitive grassroots basketball organization, including hiring, programming, fundraising and more.Â
Peterson began his coaching career as an assistant Oak Park-River Forest High School, where he was an assistant coach from 2007-2015. In four years as a varsity assistant, he helped OPRF to a 79-33 record, two IHSA Regional Championships and a West Suburban Silver Conference Championship.Â
In total, he has helped more than two dozen athletes go on to play college athletics.Â
Peterson obtained a bachelor's degree in Communications from DePaul University in 2011, and a master’s degree in Sports Leadership from Concordia University-Chicago in 2015.Â
He is married to the former Veronica Hicks, of Chicago, Il.
