Summary

Biography

Entering his sixth season as part of the Missouri staff and 11th overall in the program, Dan Pietroburgo will once again serve as the Volunteer Assistant this season.

After spending five years as a catcher in the Tiger program (2004-2008), Pietroburgo joined the coaching staff in 2009. While completing his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Mizzou, Pietroburgo served as the Graduate Manager for the 2009 and 2010 campaigns. Upon completion of this degree he has served as the Volunteer Assistant for the last two seasons.

As the Volunteer Assistant, Pietroburgo holds the role of the Tigers hitting coach while also overseeing the catchers. In addition, during the summer of 2011 he was the Auxiliary Coach for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team under Tigers head coach Tim Jamieson, who acted as the Manager for the National squad.

During Pietroburgo's playing career, he played in 104 games, including 53 starts. He is the only player in the history of the Mizzou baseball program to be a part of five NCAA Regional teams. Most notably he was a member of the 2006 NCAA Malibu Regional Championship team, the 2007 team which hosted the NCAA Columbia Regional, and the 2008 team which at one point was ranked as high as #2 nationally. In 2008, he was selected as one of two team captains along with fellow senior Jacob Priday. During his career as a catcher Pietroburgo had the opportunity to catch three Tiger first round draft picks in Max Scherzer ('06), Aaron Crow ('08,'09), and Kyle Gibson ('09).

Pietroburgo was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team Selection during his playing career. In 2008, he was honored as the Big 12 Medal Winner. He also served on Mizzou's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for four years.

A native of Belleville, Ill., he was an all-conference and all-area selection twice for Belleville West High School. He and his wife, Andrea, as well as his mother, father, and sister are all graduates of Mizzou. In addition, his father played baseball at Mizzou from 1976-1978 and was the Big 8 Tournament Most Outstanding Player in 1978.
