2010-11: Bounous competed in six open tournaments during the year and finished the season with a 17-7 record at 149 pounds. He took first place at both the Roger Denker Open and MVC Open. He pinned Marselle McVay of Labette Community College in 2:39 at the Roger Denker Open for his only win via fall of the season. He went 2-0 on the year against Big 12 competition, defeating Oklahoma's Dillon Dennis by a 6-1 decision at the Kaufman/Brand Open and Justin DeAngelis, also a Sooner, 4-1 in the Roger Denker Open finals. After starting the year 4-5, Bounous won 13 of his last 15 matches to close the season.

2009-10: Wrestling at 149 pounds, Bounous competed in two opens during the season, putting together a record of 4-4. At the University of Central Missouri Open, he opened the event by pinning Mitchell Means from Fort Hays State in 0:35. He later recorded an 8-0 major decision over Casey Hudson, also of Fort Hays State, and followed that up with a 5-2 victory over Central Oklahoma's Chris Watson. At the Missouri Open, Bounous picked up his lone win in an 11-1 major decision against Johnny Cloutier of Central Missouri in his first match of the day.

High School: Bounous was a three-time state champion while wrestling at Monett High School in Monett, Mo., under Head Coach Daryl Bradley As a sophomore competing at 130 pounds, Bounous closed out his season with a spotless 45-0 mark. By the close of his senior campaign, the Cubs grappler had won 139 consecutive matches between his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Bounous wrestled at 145 pounds as a senior (2008-09) and managed a career-high 30 falls. In four years at Monett, Bounous tallied 99 pins. The Cubs wrestling squad finished first at the Missouri State Championships in 2008, earning runner-up honors in 2006 and 2009. Competing at junior nationals in 2008, Bounous brought home a bronze medal. Bounous earned 11 letters in high school and was a four year member of the football and wrestling teams, competing three years on the baseball squad. Academically, Bounous notched a spotless 4.0 grade-point average and was a member of the All-A honor roll and national honor society, earning four academic all-state honors in wrestling.

Personal: Kellen Bounous was born June 30, 1990, in Springfield, Mo., to parents Kyle and Rhonda Bounous. The brother of one sister, Avery (16), Bounous is majoring in computer engineering.
