2011-12: In his second year with the program, Lindsay recorded top-three finishes in three of the five open tournaments he competed in, compiling a 21-7 record on the season. He opened the year with a runner-up finish at the UCM Open, going 5-1 on the day with his only loss coming to NCAA qualifier Albert White of Oklahoma State. Lindsay started the tournament with back-to-back major decisions before rallying off three consecutive wins by decision, which included a 4-3 win over Oklahoma's Parker Madl. In December, Lindsay placed third at the Kaufman-Brand Open, finishing the day with a 4-1 record. He won his first two matches by fall, pinning Rend Lake's Oshea Smith Traylor in 4:13 and Baker's Cole Price in 4:08. After a one point decision dropped him to the consolation round, Lindsay bounced back with an 8-1 win over Purdue's Patrick Robinson and again pinned Traylor, this time in 1:23, to capture third. He competed at the Southern Scuffle, earning three wins on the tournament, and closed out his season with another third place finish, this one coming at 165 pounds at the Roger Denker Open. Lindsay lost his second match of the tournament to fall in the consolation round. He bounced back, winning his next five matches to capture third. Lindsay recorded five major decisions and four falls in 2011-12.
2010-11: Lindsay wrestled at 157 pounds as a redshirt, going 10-5 on the season. He won a pair of matches at the Lindenwood Open, scoring a major decision against Cumberland's Cody Bleaken and an 8-5 decision against Donald Woods of Lindenwood. At the UCM Open, Lindsay took third, going 5-1 on the day. He picked up back-to-back major decisions to open the tournament, winning 9-0 and 10-2, before scoring a 5-2 decision over Steve Ross of SIU-Edwardsville. After falling in overtime in his next match, Lindsay bounced back with a 4-2 win before defeating Ross again, this time by a 3-2 score, to finish in third. Lindsay won his first three matches at the Kaufman/Brand Open a week later, all by decision.
High School: Lindsay, a member of the Brookfield Bulldogs squad, finished his career with just two losses and four state championships, winning one each year in a different weight class. After going 42-2 during his freshman season, Lindsay went 137-0 over the span of his final three years. During his senior season, Lindsay finished 49-0, with 38 of those victories coming via fall. He helped his squad to a team state title in 2007, and guided them to runner-up finishes in 2008, 2009 and 2010. In 2008, he finished sixth on the national level. Along with his four wrestling letters, Lindsay also lettered three times in football. He was twice named as District Wrestler of the Year, and was a four-time Academic All-State selection. He also earned Academic All-America honors after graduating with a 3.9 cumulative grade point average.
Personal: Austin Lindsay was born to Jerry and Ronda Lindsay in Brookfield, Mo., on Aug. 18, 1991. Lindsay has an older brother, Josh (25), an older sister, Shelby (20), and a younger brother, Gary (17). He is majoring in physical therapy and hope to run his own physical therapy business after graduation.
