2012-13: Tony DeAngelo went 14-8 for the Tigers in his redshirt season competing in four tournaments at 141 pounds. DeAngelo defeated Reginald Edwards 9-2 at the Joe Parisi open on November 17 for his first career win. Tony took seventh place at the Kaufman-Brand Open winning four six matches including notching his first career fall over Steven Bradtmueller of McKendree University. DeAngelo earned a fifth place finish at the Roger Denker Open. Tony finished his season by winning four matches in the Grand View Open.
High School: A four time All-American in high school, Tony DeAngelo captured three state titles in his four years at Southern Alamance. He won his first state championship as a freshman, taking first at 125 pounds and going 44-4 on the year. He matched that record during his sophomore and placed fourth at state at 130 pounds before going 52-2 as a junior at 140 pounds, earning his second state title. He capped off his career with a perfect 51-0 record at 138 pounds and another state championship. He finished his high school career with 191 wins to just 10 losses, while helping the Patriots to a runner-up team finish his senior season.
Personal: Born on September 10, 1993, Tony is the son of Randy and Mary DeAngelo. Tony was born in Orlando, Fla., and is one of six children. He has two sisters - Elizabeth and Julia - and three brothers - Joe, Jake and Rocco. His sister Elizabeth wrestled at the U.S. Olympic Education Center. Tony hopes to be an elementary P.E. teacher after college.
