Men’s Basketball Completes Roster, Signs Cord Stansberry

The Mizzou men's basketball team completed its 2026-27 roster with the addition of all-conference performer Cord Stansberry on Friday.
Stansberry earned third-team All-Southern Conference honors after leading Western Carolina in scoring during the 2025-26 campaign with 14.1 points per game. He also helped the Catamounts to 10 conference wins during his junior campaign – the second-most for the team during the last 15 seasons.
"We're excited to add our final piece of the puzzle in Cord," said Whitten Family Head Coach Dennis Gates. "He brings additional firepower to our offense and fits what we look for in size for his position. He has a lot of valuable experience as a fifth-year player and is a positive addition to program's culture."
Stansberry also ranked second on the Catamounts with 56 made 3-pointers during the 2025-26 campaign, while adding 4.0 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. He was one of just four players in the conference to collect 400 points, 100 rebounds, 55 made 3-pointers and 50 assists during the 2025-26 season.
A 6-foot-4 guard from Bermuda Dunes, California, Stansberry also spent two seasons at Pepperdine, including one redshirt year. Overall, he has appeared in 92 career games, totaling 891 points, 270 rebounds and 135 assists during his collegiate career.
Stansberry is the sixth and final transfer to join the Tigers during the spring transfer period. Along with Tennessee transfer Jaylen Carey, South Dakota transfer Jordan Crawford, BYU transfer Kennard Davis Jr., Providence transfer Jamier Jones, Kansas transfer Bryson Tiller and the nation's No. 7 freshman recruiting class, Stansberry joins a Mizzou program that is coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament bids and double-digit SEC-win campaigns for the first time since joining the conference in 2012.
